I Made A Website... Again

Every now and then I decide that now is the time to actually learn some proper old-school web development and find myself imbued with precisely enough motivation to install nginx and chuck an 'under construction' page behind my domain, which is then promptly left to whither and decay. Lately though, with the flood of lowest-common-denominator soul-sucking AI content poisoning the social internet, the motivation – fueled as it is now by hate and disgust – has not yet diminished. Indeed it has for once lasted long enough to produce at least one blog post which you, esteemed visitor, are reading now.

To diminish the possibility of a desertion of this motivation I have had the highly original idea of keeping a kind of developer's log (I'm calling it a devlog) as I work on the site in my spare time. With that in mind I am trying to both a) keep the site as simple as possible from an architectural standpoint (static files only, no backend database or scripts) and b) write as much of it myself as possible (without Wordpress, no Bootstrap and other .js libraries as much as I can get away with it).

We shall see how we go. You are welcome, dear reader, to stay for the adventure – however long it lasts – but know that I am writing first and foremost for the smartest and most important audience I know of (myself) and any enjoyment or satisfaction you may receive is purely coincidental.
